Sadly, I just missed it for Ohio, but did you know that many states have at least one day a year when the need for a license is suspended, and you can fish in public waters for free? An organization called the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation has a full list of free fishing days in various states for the current year. Often, it coincides with National Fishing and Boating Week in early June, but not only.
