Finding a Place to Get a Free Skin Cancer Screening

Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer: in 2009, more than 61,000 people in the U.S. were diagnosed with skin cancer.  There are outward indications and symptoms that you should look out for.  And there are opportunities to get skin cancer screenings free of charge.

Every year, the Skin Cancer Foundation sponsors a Road to Healthy Skin Tour across the United States.  Its 2013 schedule is not done yet, but here's the link that will feature stops across the country for free skin exams.  However, the American Academy of Dermatology already has events across the country for 2013 listed on its site.  Besides these, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery has a list of doctors who do skin exams on a voluntary basis year-rounds--there may be one near you.  And, of course, you can check for a public health clinic near you if none of these other options are available.
