Veteran's Educational Benefits on the State Level

In other posts, we note that aid to veterans is not only given out at the federal level.  In Ohio, emergency help is also given out at the county level.  Likewise, many states have state veteran bureaus and aid of their own.  And there may be other forms of help, like help in paying for higher education.

The American Legion website has done a roundup of state-level educational assistance for veterans.  It outlines which state agency provides the assistance, and what qualifications you have to meet to get it.  I did notice one thing--while poking around for other stuff, of course--is that there is a program I had not heard of for Ohio veterans.  That's the Troops to Teachers program to transition interested veterans into careers in teaching by offering stipends to help defray the cost of getting teacher certification. If you are a veteran with an interest in teaching, you may want to check it out.
